August 13, 2021
This Sunday, Lauren Stephens will return to Steamboat Springs with her sights set firmly on a win at the second edition of SBT GRVL, a popular 142-mile gravel race that saw the US road champion finish second in 2019.

"I'm so excited to race the challenging SBT GRVL Black course in Steamboat Springs," Stephens said. "This year, I feel 100 percent confident in the course, my bike, and equipment and can't wait to see what I'm able to accomplish."
Fresh from victory at Rooted Vermont, Emma Langley will join Stephens at the start line along with Gravel Locos champion, Emily Joy Newsom.
“To me, gravel is a place where I can be serious on the bike but as soon as the race is over it doesn’t matter how it went," Stephens told Cyclingnews. "It’s time to relax and have fun with the rest of the participants. The best part of gravel is there are basically no rules or we just make them up as we go.”
The SBT GRVL event offers equal prize money for men's and women's pro categories, along with cowboy hats for the winners. A live two-hour broadcast will be available on VeloNews.com and Outside TV, from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. MST.
