Coming up: GP Oetingen, Nokere Koerse and Trofeo Alfredo Binda

March 12, 2021

Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank continues its classics campaign in Belgium this weekend with GP Oetingen (1.2) on March 14, followed by Nokere Koerse (1.Pro) three days later. The prestigious Trofeo Alfredo Binda (WWT) will be next on the program, set to start the 21st.

Due to Ronde van Drenthe's cancellation, pro teams have opted for the new, yet classically Flemish, GP Oetingen. The 117.5km race will be held over ten laps of a 12km circuit and features a mix of cobbles and a short, sharp climb each lap.

The team takes on another new race three days later, Nokere Koerse, previously held in 2019. Like GP Oetingen, the course's terrain is comparable to upcoming established classics and offers a taste of what's to come at Gent-Wevelgem and Tour of Flanders.

Gigante joins team in Europe

Coming off a tremendous start to the season in Australia, Sarah Gigante will land on Italian soil this Sunday to join the team for her first race in Europe.

"I'm so incredibly excited to kick off my European racing at Trofeo Alfredo Binda with Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank," Gigante said. "I've been enjoying cheering my teammates on from across the world, and I've been lucky enough to have had some great racing in Australia recently, but it's been a whole year since I've raced alongside the team. I'm most looking forward to coming together as one and give it our best shot against the very best cyclists in the world."

Joining Gigante is Lauren Stephens, who, after Strade Bianche, remained in Italy to train in the Lombardy region and study the Binda route. "This is a race I always look forward to because it never finishes the same," Stephens said. "The course is full of small climbs. It finishes on a difficult circuit that has two hills. One is short and steep, and the other is a longer stair-step climb."
