Nina Kessler Scores Podium at the Dutch Track Cycling National Championships
In a world class field, Kessler sprinted to a bronze medal in the omnium
Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank’s Nina Kessler claimed the bronze medal in the omnium at the Dutch Track Cycling National Championships today. Kessler’s podium marks an impressive result in the strong field of Dutch riders, which included Kirsten Wild, the World Champion in the discipline, Lorena Wiebes, the current Dutch Road National Champion, and a full field of world-ranked cyclists.
The final result came down to the final event of the omnium: the Points Race. Nina had consistently good results in the first three events, the Scratch Race, Tempo Race and Elimination Race, and she was sitting in a very close third position going into the last race.
“It was a thrilling race to the finish,” said Nina. “It was very exciting between me and Lorena Wiebes for the podium, and in the end, I managed to stay in front of her and got the bronze medal in the Omnium! Kirsten Wild, the current World Champion in the Omnium, won the event, and it was a silver medal for Amy Pieters.”
“Nina is in great form, and we’re happy to see her get such outstanding results in an incredibly strong Dutch field,” said Linda Jackson, Founder of Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank. “Her comeback after her mid-season crash at RideLondon shows her tenacity, determination and talent in the sport. We’re excited to see what she can do next in the 2020 season.”

"We started the race with the Scratch race, and one rider did a solo attack and won the race. After her, it was a bunch sprint, and I finished 5th.
The second race was the Tempo Race. In this race, the rider who crosses the line first on ever lap gets one point. After 25 laps, I managed to finish 4th in the race and was then in 4th place overall.
The third race on the program was the Elimination Race, which was a very hard and chaotic race. In the end, I finished 4th again, which brought me to a 3rd place in the overall standings with just one race to go: the Points Race.
The Points Race is a race over 80 laps where you get point every 10 laps in a sprint. Every point that you take will be added to your total score of the previous races, and the total after this race is the final result of the National Championship Omnium.
