In the final World Tour race of 2019, Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank’s Alison Jackson (CAN) scored 2nd overall with an impressive sprint finish at the Tour of Guangxi. Chloe Hoskings (AUS) claimed the overall victory and Marianna Vos (NED) was 3rd. Supporting the team, Lauren Stephens (USA) edged into the top 10 in the final surge to the line.
The Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank roster for the Tour of Guangxi was Jackson, Stephens, Leah Dixon (GBR), Emily Marcolini (CAN) and Nina Kessler (NED), now recovered from her crash at RideLondon.
The race got off to a relaxed start, with flat roads and relaxed energy from the peloton, but that quickly ended as the race progressed into the climbs. Jackson, who raced the Tour of Guangxi last year and has Canadian Olympic rankings in mind, was prepared for the race. With the support of the team, Jackson was in perfect position going into the final sprint.
Vos started her sprint early, with Hoskings and Jackson coming around her in the final kick to the line.
“I am really proud of how the team has performed all year,” said Linda Jackson, Founder of Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank. “Yesterday’s podium finish is the result of the hard work and determination that the team has demonstrated all year long. Racing on multiple continents - often simultaneously - is not easy, and the team and our staff rose to the challenge. We are committed to providing a racing program that can empower our talented athletes to achieve their potential in the sport and support their Olympic dreams. We are very much looking forward to 2020.”
