Kendall Ryan (USA) made history at the Armed Forces Cycling Classic this weekend with her victories in both the Crystal Cup on Saturday and the Clarendon Cup on Sunday. Ryan and the champion in the men’s field, Eric Young, became the first racers in the event’s history to win both stages.

On yesterday’s victory at the Clarendon Cup, Kendall Ryan said, “With only 4 riders, we were outnumbered and expected a hard race. The team completely emptied themselves, and only [Sharlotte Lucas] and I finished. I also had to cover a lot of moves to keep the field together while trying to save for the final sprint. In the last lap, I was able to move up into position. I hit the last corner hot, hit the turbos and had eyes for the line.”

The Armed Forces Cycling Classic’s Clarendon Cup has been running for 22 years, and is one of the premier races of the Washington DC area. Ryan’s victory yesterday brings Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank’s record at the Armed Forces Cycling Classic to 9 victories and 20 podiums overall.
