Race Preview: Winston-Salem Cycling Classic

Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank races the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic this weekend, starting with a criterium today and a UCI road race on Monday, May 27. All the racing events will be held in downtown Winston-Salem and will feature live stream video coverage.

Racing the criterium for Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank will be: Lex Albrecht (CAN), Nicolle Bruderer (GTM), Sharlotte Lucas (NZL), Emily Marcolini (CAN), Emily Newsom (USA) and Kendall Ryan (USA). Lauren Stephens (USA), who won the 2017 edition of the road race, will join the team for the UCI event on Monday.

The criterium is one of the toughest courses on the USA Cycling National calendar. Its figure eight course includes an overpass that adds 78 feet of climbing each lap, which whittles down the field each lap. With its tight corners, technical sections and climbing, the Winston-Salem criterium makes for an exciting, challenging race.

On Monday, the team will be lining up for the UCI road race. The race circuit covers an 8.5-mile route around the city of Winston-Salem and features undulating terrain with almost no flat sections and a tough kicker before the finish that averages over 11%. The racing at Winston-Salem is always dynamic, offering spectators watching online or along the crowd-lined streets a good show each lap.
