Preview: On Sunday, the Team Races Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition
Pescadero, CA — April 19, 2019 — The first two weeks of April saw seven race days for Team TIBCO Silicon Valley Bank, resulting in 9 podiums in the U.S and another top 15 result in the Women’s World Tour (WWT). At the Sea Otter Classic, the team swept the podium, claiming all three podium spots in the road and circuit races. This result was in the wake of Shannon Malseed’s 2nd place finish overall at the Joe Martin Stage race and Alison Jackson’s 15th place finish at the iconic Tour of Flanders. Next up, the team will be racing the Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition on Sunday, April 21. Lining up at Amstel Gold will be Brodie Chapman (AUS), Alison Jackson (CAN), Nina Kessler (NED), Shannon Malseed (AUS), Rozanne Silk (NED) and Lauren Stephens (USA). Amstel Gold Preview
This Sunday marks the 6th edition of the Amstel Gold Ladies Race. The race covers 120 kilometers around the southern tip of the Netherlands, near the Belgium and Germany borders. The course is peppered with climbs, relentlessly positioned to whittle down the field. The 17.9km closing loop, which riders will tackle three times, packs in three climbs: the Geulhemmerberg, the Bemelerberg and then the famous Cauberg. With the final climb up the Cauberg only 1.8km from the finish, it will certainly be a decisive point in the race.
"Today the team met with TIBCO and one of its customers for lunch and a ride on a loop of the Amstel Gold course," said Linda Jackson, Founder of Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank. "This was a terrific opportunity for TIBCO’s customer to experience first-hand what it feels like to race the Amstel Gold," said Linda Jackson, the Team’s founder. "It was a great event and we are looking forward to hearing their cheers from the sidelines on Sunday!"

Sea Otter Classic
At the Sea Otter Classic this past weekend, Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank dominated the competition. Emily Newsom (USA) scored the top step in the road race, with Shannon Malseed (AUS) and Sharlotte Lucas (NZL) rounding out the podium on the challenging, hilly course through Fort Ord near Monterey, CA. For the circuit race, Lucas scored the top step, followed by Newsom out of a small breakaway to the finish. Kendall Ryan (USA) won the bunch sprint for third. The event was also an opportunity to connect with Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank partners, including EDCO, Fuji, Voler Apparel, 4iiii, Park Tool, Praxis Works, Prologo, KMC, Maxxis, SiS, Speedplay, Ogio Finish Line, Thule, VeloToze and more.
“With Interbike gone, Sea Otter has become a major event for us” said Linda Jackson, founder of the team. "It gives us that one annual opportunity to connect with all of our partners here in the U.S."
Joe Martin Stage Race
From April 4-8, the team competed in the 42nd annual Joe Martin Stage Race, a long-time stop on the USA Cycling Pro Race Tour. Proving her form, Malseed followed up her second place finish on Stage 1 with a victory on the second stage, a demanding course with over 3,500 feet of climbing. After five hard fought stages, including an uphill TT and one of the hardest criterium courses in the country, Malseed secured 2nd place overall in the general classification.
“My first time racing Joe Martin stage race was epic, fun, tough and exciting,” said Malseed. “It was a really different dynamic, having the first few road stages before the short and punchy ITT up Devils Den, and it all came down to the wire in the brutally hard final crit. But every day the whole team gave 100%, and I’m so grateful for them backing me this week!
“I’m stoked to have a UCI stage victory already this year, and to have secured 2nd on GC is something we can all be proud of as a team!”
Tour of Flanders
Earlier this month, Alison Jackson (CAN) scored 15th at the iconic Tour of Flanders, a true classic among the European Spring Classics. On her performance, Jackson said,
“My form is really good, and I really proud of how the team put me in the right position to be able to go for the finale….Making it to the line in this top group is awesome - my best result ever here. Still, I was hoping to have been able to finish it off for the everyone on the team: staff and riders, and for my husband who came to watch the race!”
Jackson will be looking to improve on this result at the Amstel Gold race on Sunday.
