Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank is ready for the next two races on the UCI Women’s World Tour Series in Vårgårda, Sweden. First up will be the team time trial on Saturday, August 11, followed by a road race on Monday, August 13. Both races are stand-alone UCI Women’s World Tour events.
Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank’s roster for the Team Time Trial will be: Nicolle Bruderer (GTM), Brodie Chapman (AUS), Ingrid Drexel (MEX), Alison Jackson (CAN), Shannon Malseed (AUS) and Emily Newsom (USA).
The 42.5 kilometer team time trial is an opportunity for the team to test their strength amongst the best in the world. A mostly flat course, the race features a handful of short, gradual climbs that incorporate some of the circuit that will be used on Monday’s road race. The first start time is 1pm local time.
Following the team time trial, Valentina Scandolara (ITA) will be joining the team for the road race. Scandolara took a break at the beginning of the 2018 season to recover from illness, and will be joining the team after a successful string of races in the USA this year, including at Tour of America’s Dairylands and throughout the USA CRITS circuit. Scandolara was a national champion runner before beginning her career as a professional cyclist 10 years ago. Known for her strong finishing sprint and being a selfless teammate, Scandolara’s resume includes podium finishes at top tier races like the Ladies’ Tour of Norway, Drentse 8, Giro d’Italia, Santos Women’s Tour and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Race. “We are thrilled to welcome Valentina to the squad for this block of racing,” said Linda Jackson, Founder of Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank. “Valentina’s dynamic racing style and vibrant personality makes her a great addition to the roster for these races. There will be plenty of opportunities for Valentina to showcase her sprinting strength and to be a strong support to the team’s overall goals.”
The Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank roster for the Vårgårda road race will be Nicolle Bruderer, Brodie Chapman, Ingrid Drexel, Alison Jackson, Shanon Malseed and Valentina Scandolara.
A UCI Women’s World Tour event, the road race starts out with four 11-kilometer circuits before heading out onto the meat of the course, a 53-kilometer lap with four gravel sections that will challenge the field and potentially present breakaway opportunities. The final four circuits make for an exciting finish to the 141-kilometer race.
