Race Preview: BC Superweek, Canada's Premier Bike Event
Fresh off of the National Championship events around the world, Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank riders are back together for one of the most anticipated events on the Canadian racing calendar: BC Superweek. Featuring a UCI 1.2 road race, the White Spot | Delta Road Race, and nine action-packed races over ten days, BC Superweek lures big crowds and top riders from around the world.
Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank's roster for BC Superweek 2018 includes Nicolle Bruderer (GTM), Alison Jackson (CAN), Shannon Malseed (AUS), Emily Newsom (USA), Kendall Ryan (USA) and Jennifer Tetrick (USA).
In last year’s event, Ryan was a dominant force, winning the White Spot | Delta UCI 1.2 Road Race, the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix and the PoCo Grand Prix. Ryan and Jackson have been identified as "Riders to Watch" during the next week of racing. In her last showing at BC Superweek in 2016, Jackson won the overall omnium at the Tour de White Rock, and finished in the top 10 in every race of the series.
BC Superweek kicks off with the Tour de Delta presented by Beedie, which includes three days of racing, the North Delta Criterium, the Ladner Criterium in the historic Ladner Village, and the White Spot | Delta UCI 1.2 Road Race in Tsawwassen.
The 103km road race covers eight laps over the rolling terrain along Tsawwassen’s sunny, coastal community. With sweeping corners and shorter climbs, the road race is always dynamic and most often concludes in an exciting sprint finish. The road race will start this Sunday, July 8, at 9:30am PST. Live streaming for the race is available on the event website.
Following the Tour de Delta, the team will race the week of criterium races throughout the Vancouver area, which include the New West Grand Prix (July 10), Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix (July 11), Giro di Burnaby (July 12), PoCo Grand Prix (July 13), and Tour de White Rock (July 14 – 15).
