April 24, 2018 (Pescadero, CA) — The last couple races in the UCI Women’s World Tour calendar proved successful for Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank. At Flèche Wallonne Femmes, Brodie Chapman (AUS) finished 19th up the challenging finishing climb, the Mur de Huy, her first top 20 finish in a UCI World Tour race. Alison Jackson (CAN) followed that up with another top 20 finish, with 17th at Liège Bastogne Liège.
On her finish, Brodie Chapman said, ”Fleche Wallonne was a treat, we had perfect weather, savage climbs and an active race from the gun. My teammates rode super strong and backed me to position well and remain confident in parts of the race where I felt less so.
“I love the steep gnarly climbs so I gave those bits my best shot and was stoked to finish in the top 20. This is my first year racing outside Australia and the level is like nothing else. The field of talent and experience is so high, and it's awesome to get to be a part of the race. I left with burning legs and things to learn for my next race. I certainly want to give it another go in 2019 and be over that final climb at the pointy end!”
Next up was Liège Bastogne Liège, the last of the “Spring Classics” UCI World Tour Races. With four significant climbs in the second half of the 136km course, this race was full of challenges. Alison Jackson fought her way into the selection and held on to another top 20 finish for the team, placing 17th overall. Alison cracked the top 20 for the first time in the Spring Classics earlier this year with another 17th place finish at Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields. Alison also finished 15th GC at the Tour of Chongming Island in 2017.
"I was really pleased to see Alison crack the top 20 again at the World Tour level," Linda Jackson, Founder of Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank, said. "We made a conscious decision to take on more of the World Tour this year. AJ's finishes, Brodie's rapid development, and the growth of the team as a whole show that we made the right call. Seeing their fire, motivation and improvement makes me excited to see what is to come.”
Next up, the team will be racing the Tour of Chongming Island, another UCI World Tour event. Read more about the race and see the Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank roster.
