Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank starts their final European race of the season tomorrow, the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche.
The team had a few days riding and preparing in the Chaponney region of France before traveling to their base for the Tour in Saint Alban Auriolles. It was a well-earned break after Lauren Stephens and Ingrid Drexel sprinted to top ten places (7th and 8th respectively) at the UCI Women's World Tour, GP de Plouay on August 26th. Ingrid Drexel returned to school in Mexico after Plouay; the team will be joined by Kate Buss for the seven-stage tour starting in La Pouzin.
Ardèche is a six-day hilly stage race with a double day on September 7th consisting of an Individual Time Trial in the morning and a road stage in the afternoon. Sunday’s final stage has five climbs, some with gradients in excess of 15%. The stage finishes at the ski resort of Mont Lozere and will likely determine final overall classification.
Beamon commented on the Tour: "I think Ardeche is a great race for the team and I am looking forward to it. I believe it is an event we can win; it has a challenging TT and some very hard climbs. Every day is tough, even the “sprinters” stages have some tough climbs to get over and the last two days look very intimidating. I think it will be great preparation for our World Championship selected women, and a fitting race to finish our European campaign."
