As the 2017 racing season draws to a close, Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank is set to start their third block of European racing.
Tomorrow the team will compete in the next round of the UCI Women's World Tour, the Grand Prix de Plouay - Lorient Agglomeration, part of the 4-Jours de Plouay festival held in Brittany, France.
Plouay is a demanding course, consisting of four and a half laps of a hilly 26.9-kilometer course for a total 121.5 kilometers. Each circuit has three climbs; the toughest climb, Côte du Ty Marrec, is just over one kilometer long with gradients reaching up to 15%. Coming near the end of the lap, the climb is sure to break up the field and provide a springboard for an attack towards the end of the race.
The team knows the race well, having competed in the 2015 edition. “We are really looking forward to this race” said Sports Director Ed Beamon: “Plouay is one of the most exciting races of the late summer season. It attracts some of the largest crowds in cycling and energizes the athletes to perform at their best. West Bretagne is well known for its cycling fanatics and enthusiastic spectators. The challenging circuit offers many ideal viewing opportunities as the peloton negotiates three climbs per lap and manoeuvres through some narrow roads and tight descents.”
The race will be shown live on Direct TV France 3 National( https://www.france.tv/france-3/direct.html ) at 15:15 CET and on Eurosport Player also at 15:15.
After GP Plouay the team will have a few days to prepare for their last stage race of the season, Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche, from September 5-10th.
