Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank will take part in the 2-stage Colorado Classic this week in Colorado Springs and Breckenridge.
While short in distance, both races include substantial amounts of climbing and will favor the climbers. Stage 1 tomorrow will cover 38 miles with 2,330 feet of climbing. The course runs in the shadow of Pike’s Peak, between downtown Colorado Springs and the iconic Garden of the Gods park. Stage 2 in Breckenridge covers 32 miles over five laps with over 3,500 feet of total climbing. The circuit includes Moonstone hill, a climb with pitches up to 8.3%.
In addition to the races, the team will join Advanced Sports International (ASI) for a ride out of Performance Bicycle on August 12th. ASI (Fuji’s parent company) purchased Performance Bicycle, the nation’s largest retailer, last fall.
Patricia Schwager will act as the Director Sportif for the two races. Patricia became UCI certified as a Director Sportif last year, and has directed the team at two UCI races already this year; Tour of Chongming Island and the Cascade Cycling Classic.
“I'm looking forward to the race since some of our riders and I live in Colorado. This is like a home event for us," said Patricia: "I know both courses; they are both challenging and will make for some exciting racing."
