After a few days of rest in Belgium, Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank is now in London for the next UCI Women's World Tour event, The Prudential Ride London Classique.
Today the team joined Silicon Valley Bank and its clients for breakfast at the Danesfield House, followed by an exclusive ride through the beautiful Chiltern Hills west of London. Tomorrow the team will visit SVB’s London office for a special session highlighting how a diverse workplace can give both professional cycling teams and innovation companies a competitive edge.
On Saturday the team will compete in the Prudential Ride London Classique. The World Tour race takes place on a spectacular 5.5-kilometer circuit that starts on The Mall in St. James’s Park. The course goes up Constitution Hill, turns at the top to come down Birdcage Walk, then passes several iconic landmarks including Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Admiralty Arch. The riders will complete 12 laps of the circuit, 66 kilometers in total.
Thousands of spectators are expected to once again line the route to cheer on the top racers in the world.
"We are delighted to be back in the U.K. for The Prudential Ride London Classique,” said team Founder, Linda Jackson. “This week is one of the highlights of our season” she added. “We do a lot of work with Silicon Valley Bank in the U.S., but having the opportunity to interact with them and their clients in London is special. In fact, all of our principal sponsors have very close ties to the London marketplace; to represent them in an event that takes place on some of the most iconic real estate in the world is unique and thrilling.”
Sports Director Ed Beamon is looking forward to the challenge: “Kendall Ryan and Heather Fischer join us after multiple winning performances in North America over the past two weeks,” he said. “The team is feeling confident and will be ready to challenge the top sprinters in the world. The Mall also offers some technical challenges and the stronger riders may look to break the sprinter’s dominance; we’ll be looking for every opportunity to shake things up."
