Lauren Stephens rode one her best ever individual time trials to win stage four of the Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour in Germany yesterday.
It was a sweet moment for Lauren who had her GC aspirations dashed in stage 1 when she got caught in a crash and suffered a mechanical. The team car was a long way back on narrow country roads and Lauren ended up losing too much time to make GC contention possible.
Lauren was happy with her win: "I have done this TT before and lost by 2/100 of a second. To come back and win was very exciting. I was really focused and I felt very confident with my ride when I finished."
Ed Beamon, sports director gave his thoughts after a lively podium ceremony supported by the rest of the team: "I think Lauren was solid from beginning to end. She had a good plan, rode the rolling sections really well and then nailed the final climb. To beat the current European ITT champion, Ellen Van Dijk and former world champion Lisa Brennauer shows what a class ride it was."
