Team TIBCO – Silicon Valley Bank is headed to Europe for the second of three blocks of European racing in 2017. The team will compete in the Internationale Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen in Germany followed by two UCI Women's World Tour races, La Course by Le Tour de France and the Prudential Ride London Grand Prix.
The Internationale Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen starts on July 12th with a 6.1 kilometer, evening prologue around the town of Gera and includes six further stages in the beautiful Thuringia region. Four of the five road stages have over 1100 meters of climbing to deal with. A lumpy 18.7-kilometer individual time trial on stage four will most likely shape the individual classification.
The team has had great success at this race in the past. In 2015, Lauren Stephens took second in the individual time trial and finished 3rd overall. With this year’s roster substantially stronger than the 2015 squad, the team is eager to improve upon that success.
“I think we have a great team for this year’s Thuringen Rundfahrt” said Sports Director Ed Beamon, “ The prologue and ITT stages should be excellent opportunities for our time trialists to secure good GC positions. The other stages offer plenty of opportunities for our climbers/all arounders. We are looking forward to a great week of competition”.
