Team TIBCO – Silicon Valley Bank will be racing on opposite sides of the world this coming week. The team will be competing in California at the Redlands Bicycle Classic from May 3rd to 7th and the UCI Women’s World Tour in Chongming, China, from May 5th to 7th.
Redlands Bicycle Classic
The team has a long history with the Redlands Bicycle Classic going back to the Team’s Founder winning the Oak Glen stage in a two–up sprint with Julie Furtado back in the early 1990s!
Historically the season opener for the domestic race calendar, the five-stage event is part of the USA Cycling Pro Tour and starts Wednesday with a 7.1-mile individual time trial. The very difficult Oak Glen stage race is on Thursday, followed by the Highland circuit race, a very technical Criterium and Sunday’s finishing Sunset Loop.
“This is one of my favorite races of the season” said Linda Jackson, the team’s Founder. “Oak Glen is a difficult climb, especially in the heat. Every stage offers up its own challenges, and it takes a concerted team effort to put someone on the top step of the podium.”
Sports Director Ed Beamon:
“The return of the traditional Oak Glen stage adds a new level of difficulty to Redlands that many of the rider's will not have seen. The first two days should really shake up the GC, but Sunday's Sunset loop always offers up some drama and you can never count the chickens until that stage is finished.”

Tour of Chongming Island, China
The Tour of Chongming Island Women’s World Tour is a three day tour that is traditionally one for the sprinters. The three flat stages are all based around Chongming Island not far from Shanghai.
This will be the first event where Patricia Schwager will be taking the reigns as Team Sports Director:
“Being a DS at a World Tour event is a big step up for me” said Patricia. “We are sending a squad that will really benefit from participating at the World Tour level and I know they will ride their best. Kendall Ryan has been sprinting very well domestically and it’s a great opportunity for her to sprint against some of the world's fastest women.”
The team is also looking forward to an event on Chongming Island May 4th with Silicon Valley Bank, the team’s co-title sponsor. Riders will join SVB and its clients for lunch and a group ride the day before the World Tour race.
