Olympian Jo Kiesanowski retires from Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank and pro cycling after a successf
Her journey, victories, challenges, and the evolution of women’s pro cycling
After 16 years of professional racing, including the past nine years with Team-TIBCO Silicon Valley Bank, Jo Kiesanowski pinned on a number for one final time at last month’s Mayor’s Cup in Boston after making the decision to retire from the pro peloton. The New Zealand talent had a storied cycling career, including representing her country at three Olympic Games, 14 World Championships, three Commonwealth Games, and earning eight national titles—on the road and track combined.
"We will miss having Jo Kiesanowski on the team. She was not only a phenomenal athlete; she understood very well the principles of sponsorship and sport. She was the ultimate professional athlete, and took her ambassadorship responsibilities seriously. She is a wonderful person and a good friend. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors; cycling is lucky to have her stay involved with the sport."
