Flèche Wallonne starts tomorrow, Stephens top US finisher at Worlds Road Race

After a successful Tour d'Ardeche campaign in France that saw Lauren Stephens take first overall, Stephens continued to rack up some fantastic results at the UCI Elite World Championships in Imola, Italy, this past weekend. Despite turning her focus entirely on road racing this season, Stephens still took an impressive ninth in the time trial and went on to take 11th in the road race, making her the top US finisher in the road race. "My sights have been set on the 2021 Olympic Games," Stephens said of her rides at worlds. "I feel one step closer with my results at the World Championships." Next up... A year of opportunity: Stephens on fire in 2020

In a year most of us thought of as a total wash, Lauren Stephens saw opportunity. Covid times meant a second chance for the Texas native, who assumed her Olympic prospects were over when injuries kept her searching for top form during most of the 2019 season. Stephens' zone-like focus during lockdown paid off. After months of indoor training and virtual racing, culminating with a win in the Virtual Tour de France, Stephens proved she was back on top this past month, claiming the Tour de l'Ardeche overall. She was also selected for the Olympic long team and the World Championships time trial and road race team. The World Championships start Sept. 24 in Imola, Italy. Fans can watch Stephens li

Stephens wins 2020 Tour de l'Ardeche

When Lauren Stephens took second overall at the 2015 Tour de l'Ardeche, she made it a personal mission to someday reach the top step. Today, the Texan realized that vision as she slipped the pink leaders jersey over her head on the final day, sealing the overall title after seven days of demanding racing across southern France's hilly terrain. Stephens also collected the green jersey as winner of the points classification. Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank couldn't have asked for a more motivating outcome in its first European stage race of the season. Along with Stephens' GC win, Kristen Faulkner soloed to stage honors on day four. "Lauren proved that she is more than capable of winning at thi

Stephens moves into race lead at Tour de l'Ardeche

Lauren Stephens leapt into the overall lead on a windswept day at the Tour de l’Ardeche after finishing second in a two-up sprint with Leigh Ann Ganzer on stage 5. With two stages remaining, Stephens is tied for first overall with Mavi Garcia. “I was happy to take second as my goal was to get as much time on GC as I could,” Stephens said after the stage. “We have two more days left, and I’m excited to be defending the jersey so late in the race. I’ve taken the jersey early in years past at the race, but I’ve never worn the jersey at the end of this race, and this year I believe I can.” On paper, today’s 134.5-kilometer route from Pont du Gard to Ruoms was one for the sprinters, but stron

Faulkner, Stephens finish 1-2 at Tour de l'Ardeche

Kristen Faulkner burst onto the radar today in her first-ever professional road race, winning stage 4 of the Tour de l'Ardeche after a solo move with 15km to go. Her teammate, Lauren Stephens, sprinted to second, 45 seconds back. Stephens remains in third place overall with three stages left. "To win is incredibly special and motivating. I have incredibly supportive teammates who have helped me learn the ropes quickly. They've constantly given me tips and guidance after each stage. I've learned so m

Stephens claims third on stage 2 of Tour de l'Ardeche, sits third overall

After a top 20 at last week's La Course by the Tour de France, Lauren Stephens continues her good form at the notoriously hilly Tour de l'Ardeche, taking fourth on the opening stage and third on stage 2. Stephens, who was recently selected for the US world championships road team, currently sits third overall, just 37 seconds behind the race leader. Stage 1 saw the peloton race 90.3km from Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche to Bourg-Saint-Andéol. Team director Rachel Hedderman said Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank had a fantastic start to the seven-day race, and were well represented at the front of the race. The race stayed together until the final climb, when eventual race winner Mavi Garcia attacked wi

Stephens finishes top 20 at La Course by Le Tour de France, Tour de l'Ardeche on tap this weeken

Despite the heightened safety protocols due to COVID-19, the energy in Nice, France was still electric when Team TIBCO Silicon Valley Bank took the start line for La Course by the Tour de France this past weekend. The 96km race, held on a challenging circuit the riders completed twice, was a battle of attrition. The intense racing was full of attacks and constant high speeds, which saw Lauren Stephens claim a notable 18th place at the end of the day. "La Course is always an exciting race with the number of spectators and media," Stephens said. "This year was a little different from all the restrictions surrounding COVID. For me, I enjoyed racing with the team again after so much time away
