Photo: Con Chronis Churchill, Victoria (Australia) — In a gritty performance on Stage 2 of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, Brodie Chapman (AUS) scored a podium finish and secured 3rd overall for the tour. Canadian Alison Jackson also finished in the top 10, placing 9th on the stage and overall after the grueling climb up Dobbins Road. The final climb in Stage 2 shattered the peloton, with just a few riders able to contend for a spot on the podium, including Chapman. Lucy Kennedy surged ahead over the top of the climb and finished 1st overall. It was at this race last year that Brodie Chapman (AUS) achieved a stunning victory that launched her professional career with Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank. The 2019 edition of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour will be a two-stage race, starting on Philip Island, just south of Melbourne. The first stage, on the Philip Island Grand Prix Circuit, covers the same 97.2km distance (22 laps) as the men’s race and is expected to come down to an exciting sprint finish. In an exciting finish to the Cadel Evans / Deakin University Women’s Road Race, Brodie Chapman (AUS) surprised her competitors by snipping the day’s biggest QOM, the Challambra, at the line. The win scored Team TIBCO - Silicon Valley Bank the Queen of the Mountains jersey and Chapman finished 6th place overall.
